The Beginnings
Garrix began his career with some free equipment. It was given to him by a college as part of their start-up programme. After being inspired by Tiesto, the young DJ started composing his own music. After graduating from the Hermon Brood Academy he began making music professionally. His first hit "Animals" gained him recognition from both fans and fellow DJs.
Career
After signing to various record labels Martin Garrix was involved in a dispute which saw him leave Spinnin' Records and sign with Sony Records. In 2016 Garrix won two awards at the MTV European Music Awards including the Best Electronic Act title.
He settled a lawsuit with Spinnin' Records and was given the rights to the music he created at the company. The artist also closed the 2018 Winter Olympics and performed some of his greatest hits. Having collaborated with Khalid on the song Ocean, he is known for his eclectic style.
