he following are forms of mental health disorders
1. Psychotic Disorder
Someone with a psychotic disorder has a false sense of reality. The person's thinking becomes distorted, and they start to hallucinate about things that are not real. The person may hear voices or see strange things. An example of the disorder is schizophrenia.
2. Anxiety Disorder
A person with an anxiety disorder may start to sweat, or their heart may beat faster because of fear of certain situations e.g., sitting for an exam of meeting someone they dislike. In extreme cases, the person may experience panic attacks. The person becomes consumed by fear and cannot think straight.
3. Eating Disorder
People with an eating disorder may suffer from anorexia, bulimia or binge eating. Anorexia is occurs when a person dreads gaining weight and may, therefore, refuse to eat. A bulimic person may force themselves to vomit after binging on food. A binge eater may eat and continue even after they get full.
4. Personality Disorder
An individual with a personality disorder may do the opposite of what society expects. Such a person may have self-esteem issues or might be antisocial. Society often misunderstands people with personality disorders leading to strained relationships.
5. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Some people never fully recover from traumatic events, and they may continue to suffer from frightening episodes for the rest of their lives. Some events that may lead to PTSD are: childbirth, natural disasters, witnessing or being involved in a horrific accident or rape.
6. Obsessive Compulsive-disorder (OCD)
Individuals that suffer from OCD may feel happy or safe if they do things in a certain pattern. The person may find it hard to let go of some habits because they prefer to do things using the same pattern.
7. Addiction Disorder
People that suffer from addiction disorders may be unable to resist urges when it comes to things like sex, gambling, alcohol or drugs. The person may experience withdrawal symptoms if they don't take drugs or alcohol making the person dependent on the substance.
Substance addicts might steal or kill to support their habit. A sex addict may rape or molest people because their appetite for sex is insatiable. A gambler may blow away thousands of dollars in a night without a second thought.
It is important to equip yourself with mental health knowledge. In most cases, people don't even know that they have a mental problem and they suffer for years.
