he Algarve is one of Portugal's most beloved tourist destinations with beautiful beaches and coastlines, historic villages, beautiful castle towns, golf resorts, warm temperatures and amazing natural sceneries. The Algarve is comprised of 16 municipalities with Faro, which houses the region's administrative centre, as its capital and one of the largest cities. Beaches
There are over 150 beaches in The Algarve you can choose from, and since this could be a bit of a task, I'm going to choose the best for you.
• Praia de Odeceixe
One of the best beaches in the Algarve, it is a sandy beach within the municipality of Aljezur, in the extreme North West of the Algarve. Popular with surfers, hikers, geologists, this beach is also amazing for families.
• Praia da Marinha
Considered among the best in Europe, this beach is within the Lagoa Municipality in the Argarve, Portugal. Featuring beautiful cliffs and clear water, this beach is best for families, photographers, ramblers and hikers.
Museums
Learn the history at Museu de Traje, which displays about 15,000 local costumes, old carriages and an art gallery with regular musical events. It is located in Faro, and entrance charges are €2. It is open all days of the week. Other museums to visit in the Algarve are Museu Municipal de Faro, Museu de Portimão, and Museu Marítimo Almirante Ramalho Ortigão.

•Faro Cathedral
This Cathedral was consecrated in the 13th century by the Archbishop of Braga. It is a National Monument of Portugal.
•Silves Cathedral
It also is a National Monument of Portugal since 1922. The Silves Cathedral is the main Gothic Monument in the region, featuring red sandstone and very unique interior; it replaced a Mosque that was built during the Moorish rule.
Castles
If you're a fan of castles, fantasy films or history, the Algarve has some of the best castles in Europe. The 11th century Castle of Silves is one of the largest in the region, as well as most visited. Located at the highest point in Silves, this castle offers the best views of the city. It depicts Islamic civilization and is considered one of the best preserved castles in the country.
