oving house is one of the most stressful life events. It can cause arguments, stress and headaches. These tips will help your moving day be stress-free and smoother.
Sort Out Your Belongings
Before you move, think about the items you want to take. There's no point packing items you don't want or need, so dispose of them before. It will save time, and you'll be able to de-clutter your house.
Consider Where Your Furniture Will Go
Before moving home, the previous owners should provide you with a document enlisting the dimensions of each room. Measure your furniture before moving to ensure it will fit. Curtains, beds, wardrobes, dressers, and appliances should all be measured.
Removal Company or Van?
If you don't have a lot of items, or you live on the ground floor then hiring a van is a cheaper option. For heavy items and larger houses, it's best to use a removal company. They'll usually move your items to the new location by 12 pm and make the process easier.
Protect Your Valuables
Most items will be placed into boxes but valuable items should be taken care of. Use bubble wrap to protect them from breakages and if possible transport them in your car.
Pack In Advance
Don't leave packing until the last minute. Start a few weeks before, packing up items you won't be using. This way you won't be panicking when it gets to moving day.
Notify Companies
Before you move, notify the necessary companies including banks, doctors insurers and others. Make a list of the people you need to notify and set time aside to contact each one.
Preparing Your Teenager For University Move
If you think moving house is stressful, preparing to move your teenager's things to University is a different experience altogether. Teenagers are notorious for being unorganized, so before the move, ensure everything necessary is packed. Only the basics should be taken and items should be packed in advance.
