n modern home improvement strategies, variety and choice takes the first priority. When it comes to selecting window blinds, clients need to know what exactly can meet their needs. With many varieties of blinds that exist in the market, selection may prove difficult for many users. However, with proper knowledge of what one wants and careful elimination of the products, it is possible to get the right window treatments that meet their needs.
The first choice to make in choosing window blinds is about the width. Blinds come in three sizes of width in half-inch, one-inch, and two inches. Most users prefer the half-inch dimension because it offers a contemporary feel. One-inch width blinds offer users an option between the smallest and the biggest widths. Blinds with two inches width are suitable if you want to go the vintage style, as they resemble the older Venetian blinds.
The next thing to consider after width of your blinds is whether you need vertical or horizontal blinds. If you want to use the blinds on a sliding door, or you have window expanses, then it is advisable to go for vertical blinds. This is because of their ability to stack at the sides of the window as opposed to being at the top. For commercial buildings, aluminum vertical blinds are more preferable. However, modern versions of vertical blinds are available in different materials such as sheer fabrics.
In addition to the mentioned factors, you need to consider whether your blinds will match the color of your room. Many users consider that concept. However, if you have no idea of changing your room’s décor, or you are fine with the blind being more visually prominent, then you can just pick a color of your choice. All the same, for a long-term and classic presentation, go for a color that is friendly to the already existing décor. What matters is that the color of your blinds should not be a determining factor for buyers, if the house is for sale.
Blind raisers are another important factor to consider when choosing your window treatments. Blind raisers are available top-down or bottom-up styles. You can choose to have either of the two, or a combination of both. Privacy and issues of light are the determinant factors in deciding this concept.
It is also important to choose between wood and aluminum blinds. In most cases, aluminum blinds are suitable for commercial buildings. For residential units, wood blinds or faux, work better. Wood blinds bring a softer and organic feel to your window, and if you choose faux, they are even less expensive and more moisture resistant. They are therefore suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, and other damp areas. In fact, painted wood blinds and faux often look the same and it is difficult to tell the difference.
In the end, users need to beware of the cheapest versions of blinds in the market, as they may prove quite expensive in the end. If you choose a cheaper version, check its country of origin and weight to verify the quality.
