C hecking your credit score can be quick and easy. It’s a good idea to check your credit score from time to time, or when you are applying for a mortgage, an additional credit card or a loan. However, don’t check it too often, as some banks become suspicious of credit checks when you haven’t taken a loan out in some time.

Each agency will compile a list of all your credit accounts, details of those who are financially linked to you as well as additional miscellaneous information such as your name and date of birth.  There are three main CRA’s; Experian, Equifax and CallCredit.

The cost of getting your credit score from one CRA is £2. However, you may want to get your credit check from multiple CRAs if it is your first time applying for credit or you haven’t applied for credit in a long time, as there may be different bits of information that a CRA might miss in its credit report.
