egal help is always expensive and can therefore be daunting. But sometimes seeking out a lawyer is the best options in tricky situations. In a no win no fee claim, you do not have to pay the lawyer’s services if the compensation claim is unsuccessful. So how does it work?
No Win No Fee - How Does it Work?
No win no fee lawyers only charge you when you win the case and get the compensation you were looking for. So the law firm takes the risk on the case, but usually they would only offer this option when your case has a good chance of winning. Your solicitor will arrange a Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA). This legally binding document is the agreement that states the fees to be paid - in case of a win or a loss.
What Happens if You Win?
Once you've won your case usually a percentage of the compensation you're getting is taken out for your lawyer. The percentage was agreed upon in your CFA and can be around 25% of the amount.
What happens if You Lose?
No win no fees means you don't pay anything, right? Theoretically that's correct, but usually the lawyer takes an insurance policy on your behalf for issues such as the court fees and any other related fees or expenses. Your CPA will state exactly what you have to pay in case of a loss, so make sure to read it carefully. even though you're not paying the solicitor's fee, it's not uncommon that you're responsible for court costs or miscellaneous expenses.
