H orror fans have been waiting anxiously for the release of Halloween this year. It hits UK cinemas October 19th and is set to be one of the biggest sellers this year. So why is Halloween 2018 causing so much excitement?

The Legendary Movie Returns

If you haven't seen Halloween then we recommend you watch the original before seeing the new film. It picks up from the original 1978 film which starred Jamie Lee Curtis. She'll reprise her role as Laurie Strode, the only person to have survived Michael Myers killing spree. After being away for 40 years, he returns to Illinois, intent on finishing what he started. Of course, along the way, he finds new victims including two journalists and other unsuspecting people celebrating Halloween. It's up to Laurie, her daughter and granddaughter to survive his wrath and finish him for good.

Reception

The film has been shown at various film festivals and it's had an overall positive reaction. Critics have enjoyed the nostalgia and it seems to have survived the sequel curse that so many other films have fallen victim to. The fresh look at Michael Myers also puts some rumours to rest and connects the dots of the story perfectly.

Cast

Jamie Lee Curtis returns as Laurie and the original actors that shared the role of Michael Myers will return. Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney shared the role due to its stunts. Judy Greer appears as Laurie's daughter and her granddaughter is played by Andi Matichak. It's unlikely that other movies will be able to compete with the sequel, with people getting ready to see the movie. It's the must-see horror of the year and there's no doubt that people of all ages will be seeing Halloween 2018.
