indow blinds are window coverings that consist of vertical or horizontal slats of various types of material, most famous plastic, wood, or metal. They include shutter blinds, roller blinds, Roman blinds, wood blinds, Venetian blinds and conservative blinds among others. This article is going to discuss various types of blinds, their features and descriptions.
Roller Blinds
These are window coverings made of stiffened fabric and then attached to a roller. The rollers can be wooden of metal. To function, they can be attached to a chain, or be spring loaded as well as motorised. There are several types of roller blinds; bonded roller blinds- these have a soft fabric cover bonded to the blinds' surface, blockout blinds are similar to the bonded roller blinds but the fabrics come with colours and patterns, light filter roller blinds- allow filtered light to pass through whilst offering privacy, and sunscreen roller blinds, similar to light filter roller blinds allow light through but block harsh UV light therefore enabling better outside visibility.
Roman Blinds/shades
Roman blinds are a bit similar to roller blinds. They are made up of fabric that folds up when pulled by a cord which raises the blind evenly. There are various types of Roman blinds: Flat Roman Blinds- made by one continuous piece of fabric from top to bottom, hobbled roman shades - also known as waterfall, looped or teardrops shades. They include soft folds rippling down the fabric.
Shutter Blinds
Shutter blinds are solid window coverings that consist of a frame of horizontal rails and vertical stiles. There are two types of shutter blinds; solid and louvered. Solid shutter blinds are famous for keeping warmth in, while louvered shutter blinds offer great light control as you can open and close the slats at any needed time.
Conservatory Blinds
These are measured to fit the sizes of windows in a conservatory. This means you can choose from the various types of blinds that are there as well as fabric designs to match the decor of your conservatory.
