unta Cana is situated on the easternmost tip of the Dominican Republic and is known for its 32 kilometers of beaches. However, there are many other fun and interesting activities to do. Here is some of the best things to do there.
Peninsula of Samana
Just 30 minutes away by plane you will find the peninsula of Samana where you will be able to do some horseback riding, enjoy a truck safari and an incredible island tour. There is also a beautiful waterfall.
Isla Saona
A very popular excursion consists of visiting Isla Saona where you will meet plenty of cute little starfish among others. The entire island is a government-protected nature reserve, so there isn’t an imposing high-rise or kitschy gift shop in site, only pure white-sand beaches and swaying palm trees. many resorts offer their guests tour packages that include a ferry and a meal to take along.
Marinarium snorkeling cruise
This tour is a half day experience on board a glass bottom boat that will let you see the diverse and colorful sea life along the Punta Cana coastline. You will even go to the “Marinarium”, a marine life oasis in the middle of the ocean where you’ll get the chance to swim with stingrays and nurse sharks!
Discovery Cruise Cap Cana
Get on the Discovery Cruise which lasts 8 and a half hours and which will take you to the Cap Cana private complex to enjoy drinks, food and, of course, the most surreal beaches. The Discovery Cruise is a full day experience sailing along the coast of the exclusive Cap Cana private complex.
Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park
To explore an untouched portion of the Dominican Republic, head over to Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park, a private protected nature reserve. There are cultural exhibits, a petting zoo, a sugarcane exhibit, five swimming holes and an iguana habitat.
Super truck safari in the Higuey region
In the Higuey region, you will have the chance of going on a super truck safari to make sure you get an insight into the real Dominican Republic.
You will visit one the most famous churches in the Country, home to the patron saint Our Lady of La Altragacia but also two rural ranches where you will have the chance to see how local made dominican products such as cocoa, tobacco or coffee.
