M eghan Markle or her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex, as we have now come to know her, is someone that has monopolized the British public interest ever since her courtship with now husband Prince Harry became known. But who is Meghan Markle?

Early life and career

Meghan Markle, a California native, was born on August 4th 1981. Like a typical valley girl, Meghan loves yoga, has a chic and comfortable style and is down to earth. Up until 2017, you could follow Meghan on Instagram or on her own lifestyle website TheTig.com which she described as a hub for those with a hunger for food, travel, fashion and beauty. While Meghan has now retired from acting, she had a successful career in Hollywood, with her most notable role being that of Rachel Zane, on the American legal drama series Suits.

Marriage to Prince Harry

Meghan has been married once before to actor and producer Trevor Engelson until 2013. Ever since the announcement of her engagement to Prince Harry, Meghan has focused on public engagements and charity work as part of the British Royal Family. After a whirlwind romance Meghan married Prince Harry on May 19th 2018 in the presence of the Royal family, various celebrities and Meghan’s mother. The one dark spot in an otherwise fairytale affair was the absence of Meghan’s father and siblings, with whom she is now estranged.

Fashion Icon

Similar to her British counterpart, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, whatever Meghan chooses to wear becomes an instant hit and can change a fashion label’s fortune. This so-called “Meghan Markle Effect” has brought little-known, ethical and sustainable brands to the forefront of the fashion world. Meghan is also known for recycling her wardrobe and opting to wear outfits that are affordable to the everyday fashionista.

Mom-to-be

On October 15th 2018, Kensington Palace announced that Meghan Markle is pregnant. The baby, which will be 7th in line for the British throne, is due to be born in the Spring of 2019. While Meghan may not technically be a princess, her life seems like a fairytale!
