What is Cloud Identity?

C loud Identity, according to Google, allows for a central administrator “to manage all of one’s users easily from a central location—the Google Admin console.” (Google). Cloud Identity and Access Management, or IAM, provides free, managed services for users who don’t see the need G Suite services such as Gmail or Google Drive.

Cloud Identity Uses

Cloud identity is primarily used as control mechanism for administrators who wish to authorize different actions amongst different groups. This gives said administrators full control and visibility over the resources one’s team is using. Essentially, think of IAM as a single machine which gives one administrator full control over what workgroups and those he is managing over can see, what they are working on and how long they are able to work on it.

Do You Need It?

Cloud identity could be crucial for your business or company, as it would allow for you to increase productivity amongst your workers through unique, real-time visibility on projects. It would give you the bird-eye’s view of all of your individual workgroups.

Cost?

Totally free. However, using advanced services like G-Suite Basic and ultra-advanced services like G- Suite Business and G-Suite Enterprise cost money but give administrators control over services such as Gmail as well as others.
