M yanmar, also known as Burma, is one of the best places to get a feel of the old Asia. Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city, boasts of a vast variety of impressive scenery. It strikes a balance between tradition, culture, and modernity. Yangon is more connected to other international places as compared to other cities as flights in and out of the town are more accessible to access. If you wish to experience the power of mystical Buddhist purity, Yangon is the place to go. The Shwedagon Pagoda is one of the most sacred Buddhist sights here. Another main attraction site is the temple town of Bagan. A hot air balloon ride over Bagan and Lake Inle is the best way to experience these places. Lake Inle in south-east Mandalay is a floating garden, full of vegetation and even houses. Not to miss is the one-legged rowers, the sunset and sunrise over the water. The U-bein bridge, the world’s longest and oldest bridge in Mandalay is worth seeing as well. It runs over 1.2km across Taungthaman Lake. Sports lovers can enjoy engaging in sports associated with the region they tour. Myeik Archipelago in the south of Myanmar is a good place to scuba dive, island hop and snorkel. Ngapali beach is perfect for a morning jog or run, and the sunsets are memorable. The easiest way to reach here is via a flight from Yangon. The cuisine consists mostly of fresh fish caught by local fishermen. While at Ngapali, also, don’t fail to visit the famous hanging palm tree. While travelling all these beautiful places, forget not to go deep into the villages, small-town markets, and tea houses to interact with the locals. After all, what is it worth without experiencing the culture and the people of Myanmar?
