The smartphone market share of 2015 reveals Samsung won over Apple

I t doesn't matter how many different smartphones are released each and every year, Apple is always able to make it all about its iPhone. Since the first smartphone by Apple was released in the United States in 2007, the smartphone market share is always dominated by the iPhone since thousands of people queue up outside Apple stores all over the world every year whenever the latest model is released. Despite the fact that it's hard to walk around most major cities without coming across large billboards advertising the latest smartphones by important manufacturers such as Samsung, Huawei, Sony and LG, few of those actually go as far as spamming our TVs with adverts the way Apple does to promote the iPhone. Usually, promotion equals massive sales, but it looks like, despite the usual hype and the millions spent on promoting their products, Apple lost to another brand if we take a look at the smartphone market share of 2015. We are talking about Samsung. While Samsung shipped over 74 million phones to stores during the last quarter of 2014, that impressive amount rose to a shocking 81 million during the same period of last year, amounting to a total of 320 million Samsung phones shipped to stores during the whole of 2015. Although Apple came second with an incredible 74 million iPhones shipped to stores during the last three months of 2015, overall shipments for the year amounted to 231 million, almost 100 less than Samsung. The most shocking revelation that has come after taking a look at the smartphone market share of 2015, however, is the fact that a Chinese brand that wasn't too popular just a couple of years ago, Huawei, has taken over bigger brands with a total of 107 million phones shipped to stores, 32 of which were sold during the last three months of 2015. With news about the iPhone 7 coming out in September and rumors about an iPhone Mini being released at some point during 2016, we can't wait to find out what the results of this year's smartphone market share will look like.
