Samsung Galaxy S9: A New Future for Smartphones

W ith the announcement that Samsung is releasing the Galaxy S9, rumored to be the last phone in the Galaxy S range, the world is prepared to be dazzled by top of the line specs and innovative technology. Available as both a standard and plus model, the S9 doesn't disappoint. The first improvement is to the iris scanner, increasing the security capabilities of the phone beyond that of anything available on the market. However, the phone has kept the 18.5:9 aspect ratio, opting instead to improve on the screen itself. The 5.8-inch QHD+ screen is rumored to have a 1440 X 2960 resolution. Standard offerings include 4GB ram, 64GB storage with upgrades to 128GB, a 12MP back camera and 8MP front camera, and a Super AMOLED display driver. All versions of the phone are waterproof, and will work with modern wireless chargers. Currently off the table are a new screen shape, in-screen scanner, and the rumored larger battery. Overall, the phone is a great improvement on the last model, but holds back a number of features that will likely appear in the next generation of Samsung's signature phones.
