ibraltar is a a narrow strip of land that separates the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Even if it is located in the Southern part of Spain, it is a British Overseas Territory, that's why Gibraltar holidays are so interesting and fascinating: because in only six square kilometers of extension, it is possible to find a mix of Spanish and British culture, with some echoes coming from the dark continent.
When people decide to go to visit Gibraltar, usually they do not expect such a wonderful place, where the flora and the fauna are so well preserved and where the social life is so intense.
So, how to spend an holiday in Gibraltar? The first thing to do in this wonderful place is to visit the Upper Rock, a hill that arises more than four hundred meters above sea level and that offers a breath-taking view. From there, you can appreciate in the same moment, two continents, a sea and an ocean!
If you decide to have a walk on the Upper Rock, you can decide to visit the maze of caves of the Great Siege Tunnels, one of the most awesome defensive systems created by man, during the centuries, and in particular from 1782 to the Second World War.
While, if you prefer natural caves, then you can not miss St. Michael's Cave, that according to the legend, is the connection among the European and African Continents. And exactly through this cave, always according to the tales, all the apes of the dark continent reach Gibraltar. Yes, you can see really many apes in this territory, in particular in the Ape's Den, where they are free to move everywhere. Moreover, if you really love nature, you can appreciate the sight of dolphins and of colored and wonderful birds.
But if you only look for a relaxing holiday, Gibraltar is, again, the right place. You can enjoy the summer on the sandy beach, go swimming in the Mediterranean Sea or in the Atlantic Ocean, depending on your preferences, or dive, or have some sailing lessons to enjoy the wind and the sea at the same time. And if the weather does not allow a sea day, you can decide to visit some cultural attraction, such as the Moorish castle, or the Europa Point Lighthouse. And yet, if you love music, Gibraltar holidays are again the best choice: in spring and summer, in fact, music is everywhere in Gibraltar, thanks to the Spring Festival and the Gibraltar World Musica Festival. But, if you love camping, you must remember that in this little territory there are no camping areas, so that you have to overnight in Spain.
