hether you’re looking for budget bites or frivolous & fancy fare, London has just the meal ticket. Here’s a round-up of some of the best restaurants the city has to offer:
1 Lombard Street
This gorgeous restaurant, nestled in an historic bank building in the Square Mile, is a great if slightly more expensive option for a meal. Enveloped in the opulent surroundings, choose from a delectable menu that includes steak tartare, pumpkin risotto and curried fish cakes with a lime yoghurt dip. Breakfast options are full and plentiful, and you’ll likely get a bit of networking done at the same time!
Open 7.30am – til late at 1 Lombard.
Beany Green
Located in the same Square Mile area but a little easier on the wallet, Beany Green is a bright and breezy café blaring hip hop on the sound system and serving up all-day Aussie breakfasts, fresh fruit smoothies and gorgeous antipodean sweet bites like lamingtons and rocky road bars. Start your day off right at this healthy spot.
Open at 6.30am every day, Kiosk 1, 41 Broadgate Circle.
Stem
Brought to you by seasoned restaurateur, Mark Jarvis, Stem is a crisp, clean and unassuming spot to enjoy some gorgeous food paired with exquisite wines. Located in Mayfair, just around the corner from Oxford Circus, Stem is a small affair with only 35 seats which makes it intimate anyway, but you can get a bit closer to the action by booking the Chef’s Table, set for up to 6 diners.
Open at 12pm everyday except Mondays at 6pm. 5 Princes Street, Mayfair.
Social Eating House
A Michelin Star restaurant, Social Eating House in Soho is a diner’s dream with three levels all catering to dining and drinking delights. The main floor is where most of the eating is done: a banquette-style space with dim lighting and a cosy feel. The top floor is a designated mostly for drinking and in the basement, up to 8 diners can feats on a carefully designed tasting menu.
58 Poland St, Soho, open 12.30pm – 10.30pm every day.
