Coach holidays flex their muscles at British Travel Awards
The winner of the British Travel Awards is set to be announced in just over two weeks time and companies offering coach holidays are once again making their presence known in the voting.
Leger Holidays, Gold Crest holidays, Titan, and Shearings Holidays are slogging it out in the ‘Best Coach Holidays Company’ category, with Shearings – who recently announced record profits – currently leading the pack.
The British Travel Awards invited UK holiday companies, retailers, UK destinations and visitor attractions to apply to be considered for a 2014 British Travel Award, at the beginning of the year.
Of the 250 companies who applied many canvassed votes with their customers through marketing and social media campaigns.
Shearings took a gold medal in the 2012 ‘large coach tour operator’ category, while Newmarket Holidays – conspicuously missing from this year’s competition, snatched gold in 2011.
Once the jolly jape of 1950s Britain, coach holidays are enjoying a resurgence in popularity as austerity Britain casts an eye back to more traditional and cheaper types of holiday.
Many companies are repackaging their tours to attract a younger hipper crowd.
The results of the British Travel Awards will be announced at a Gala Awards dinner in London on 26th November.
Does it make you think twice about coach holidays?
